*** Fasting: what breaks it, and what doesn’t ***
That which breaks the fast:
• Eating
• Drinking
• Sexual intercourse
• Masturbation
• Foreplay that leads to ejaculation
• Donating blood
• Hijaamah (for the one who does it, as well has the one who has it done to them)
• Intentionally making oneself Vomit
• Any nutritional injection
• Inhaling incense or Incense-based perfume
• Taking Nose Drops

That which does NOT break the fast:
• A Wet Dream
• Kissing or playing with ones wife (so long as he does not excrete semen)
• Excreting Semen without desire/intention (like leaking)
• Bleeding without intention
• Giving blood for medical analysis reasons
• Having a tooth removed
• Blood that comes from between the teeth
• Vomiting unintentionally
• Tranquiliser or anaesthetic injections
• Using Miswaak
• Brushing the teeth with toothpaste
• Using perfumes (oil or liquid based)
• Oils , creams, lotions on the body, hands, face
• Breath freshening mouth spray (as long as nothing reaches the throat)
• Using Kohl
• Eye or Ear drops
• Being abusive or haram speech
• Backbitting or slandering
• Sleeping all day
• Applying henna
• Accidentally swallowing water (through forgetfulness or accidentally or being forced)
• Tasting food while cooking (without swallowing)
• Cutting/trimming hair
• Trimming nails
• Being in a state of sexual impurity (Janaabah) after the time of Fajr has entered

That which makes it permissible to break the fast (and make up the day later) without expiation:
• A women reaching her menses
• A person who is a Traveller
• A person has sexual intercourse, whilst on travel
• A person who is ill or suffering from Illness
• A person who is medically required to produce semen
